Course requirements


2-page summaries on 3 selected topics

Throughout the semester students will engage in discussions on various topics. Students will be required to read two papers with opposing views on each subject and turn in a maximum 2 page summary exposing your views and conclusions on the debate. The websites provide include introductory papers, and you are expected to consult at least 4 more papers on each selected topic. Select 3 topics of the list below and turn the summaries on the due dates.

Trangenic crops (summary due in class September 7)

Ecoagriculture (summary due in class September 28)

Organic farming (summary due in class October 19)

Cimate change and agricultural models (summary due in class November 16)

Agriculture for biodiesel production (summary sue in class November 16)

Take home mid-term paper (Due in class November 7)

Student group presentations (Nov 28, 30 and Dec 5)
